Under the motto “Sharing Knowledge, Shaping Change”, the 11th Regional Timber Construction Day was held in Oberkochen on 7 November 2025. Around one hundred experts discussed the potential and perspectives of modern timber construction following keynote presentations from politics, research and practice.
This year’s event was hosted by Leitz GmbH & Co. KG. After words of welcome from District Administrator Dr. Joachim Bläse of the Ostalbkreis district and Dr. Cornelia Brucklacher, shareholder and chair of the advisory board of Leitz GmbH & Co. KG, a tour followed of the plant of the world’s leading manufacturer of machining tools for wood processing.
With a view to the Zukunftsforum Oberkochen, digitize wood gave a presentation on timber construction research and knowledge transfer at the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC. The Universal Timber Slab timber construction system developed at IntCDC is to be used in the Zukunftsforum. Moritz Mahlke presented the construction system and gave an overview of IntCDC’s research activities. In line with the plans to use the Zukunftsforum as a place of exchange for companies, craft enterprises and research institutions in the region, Julia Mederus presented knowledge transfer at IntCDC and the event formats of digitize wood.
Alexander Möndel, Head of the Bioeconomy Department at the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection, presented the state’s bioeconomy strategy and the role of timber construction within it. Sebastian Schmid, Managing Director of ADK Modulraum GmbH, highlighted the advantages of timber-hybrid modules in system construction.
Since 2012, the districts of Heidenheim, Ostalbkreis and Schwäbisch Hall, together with the Regional Economic Development Corporation East Württemberg (WiRO), have been organizing the Regional Timber Construction Day. The aim is comprehensive exchange on establishing wood as a key technology in a future-oriented bioeconomy. The event is supported by Holzbau BW, proHolz BW and the Holzbau Offensive BW.
