Research associates Aaron Wagner and Simon Treml from the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) guided the master craftsmen through the LCRL. As members of the Timber Construction Research Group, they focused the tour on the robotic timber construction platform, which will be used starting in October 2026 by industry partner Züblin Timber to prefabricate the timber floor slabs for the IntCDC Building. Other highlights of the tour included the spider cranes and the fiber platform with test specimens for the hybrid flax pavilion for the 2024 State Garden Show in Wangen i. A.
The tour of the LCRL concluded the master carpenters’ meeting and complemented their previous gathering on professional policy issues by offering a glimpse into future trends in the construction industry. As a token of appreciation, the association's president, Gerd Renz, presented Aaron Wagner and Simon Treml with a carpenter's mascot.
Approximately 1,000 carpentry businesses and 30 guilds are voluntary members of the Baden-Württemberg State Association for Timber Construction. The association fosters regional and supraregional networks, provides support in the form of legal advice and continuing education, and serves as a voice in the political arena. The guilds are represented by their guild masters. The association’s office is located in Ostfildern near Stuttgart.
